Is there any charge to get into Great Smoky Mountains National Park?
Entry to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is FREE. There’s no charge at all. In fact, It’s the only free National Park in the United States.
How and where do I get a fishing license and the Gatlinburg fishing permit, if I want to fish in Gatlinburg, and how much do they cost?
Fishing licenses can be purchased at the Gatlinburg Welcome Center on US Hwy 441, also known as “The Spur” or at any Food City grocery store (865) 430-3116, NOC’s Great Outpost at 1138 Parkway, Gatlinburg, TN (865) 277-8209 and Smoky Mountain Angler 469 Brookside Village Way, Gatlinburg, TN (865) 436-8746.
Please remember, there are different permits required, depending on if you want to fish within the City of Gatlinburg or inside the National Park and surrounding areas. Permits range in price from $3.50 a day to $9.00 a day, depending on where they want to fish and if they want a one, three or ten-day pass.
Is there any actions I should take if I should see a bear?
Never EVER approach a bear, or any wild animal! Keep your eyes on the bear while you slowly back away. In the unlikely event the bear should follow you, stand your ground and begin talking very talk loudly, shout and make yourself look as big as possible. Never turn away, never turn your back on wildlife and do not run. As always, never feed the bear and always bear proof your food and garbage.
My cabin or chalet doesn’t have any gym equipment, is there a place in Gatlinburg where can I work out?
The Gatlinburg Community Center on Highway 321 which is located at 156 Proffitt Road, next to Gatlinburg- Pittman High School. The facility has indoor swimming, a bowling alley, basketball and racquetball courts, as well as work out facilities and even classes. Please call (865) 436-4990 for hours.
Is there a schedule show when/where the Gatlinburg Trolley’s run?
The Gatlinburg Trolley’s operate Six days a week (Monday-Saturday) from 8:00am to midnight during the months of April through October. The winter Trolley schedule is Monday through Thursday from 10:00am to 6:00pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00am to 10:00pm from November to March. The Gatlinburg trolley does not operate on Sundays, New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas.
Do you know of a great place to watch the sunrise or sunset in the area?
There are 2 places we would suggest to watch a great sunrise or sunset. One is Myrtle Point which is on Mt. LeConte and the other is Clingman's Dome.
Are the streets of Gatlinburg Pet Friendly?
Yes, as long as you have your pet on a leash while walking around Gatlinburg but please don’t assume your pet is welcome in the stores. If you want to take your pet with you in a store, please contact the store in advance and ask if pets are allowed in their store. Also, clean up after your pet, don’t leave their “gifts” along the streets.

Food City is located on Highway 321, less than 3 miles from the downtown Parkway. Food City is Gatlinburg's everyday low price supermarket. The ultra modern store features pharmacy, floral, video, picnic supplies and a full line of groceries. They even bake wedding cakes! Call them at (865) 430-3116.
